Fati, Pogba, Ben Seghir, Diatta and Ilenikhena absent from AS Monaco's squad for the friendly match in Bielefeld this Saturday

Fati, Pogba, Ben Seghir, Diatta and Ilenikhena absent from AS Monaco's squad for the friendly match in Bielefeld this Saturday

After a six-day training camp in England followed by a studious week in La Turbie, AS Monaco heads to Germany where it will play its fourth friendly match of the summer this Saturday at 3 p.m.

With the aim of arriving fully prepared for the start of Ligue 1 and the reception of Le Havre, scheduled for Saturday, August 16 at 7 p.m., the Monegasques will face Armenia Bielefeld, promoted to Bundesliga 2 this season. An opponent that the eight-time French champion has never faced in its history.

Magassa and Mawissa summoned

For this match, Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati were not called up to the 25-man squad selected by Monaco coach Adi Hütter. The 2018 world champion and the Spanish international winger are continuing their fitness training. He is still being assigned to "La Pioche" while the former Barcelona player began group training this Thursday.

Having returned from vacation last Thursday, following their teammates due to their participation in the Euro Espoirs in Slovakia with the French national team, Soungoutou Magassa and Christian Mawissa have been included in the squad. The midfielder and defender resumed group sessions with their teammates this Thursday.

Ben Seghir and Diatta injured

George Ilenikhena, who was present in England and at St. George's Park, the venue for Monaco's training camp last week, did not play against Coventry and Nottingham. The 18-year-old striker suffered from muscle discomfort. While he resumed group training this week, it is still too early for him to play in a match.

It's the same for Eliesse Ben Seghir. Having missed the match against Forest last Saturday due to a thigh strain, the Moroccan international did not travel across the Rhine with his teammates. He is still suffering from quadriceps pain.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, frustrated at having lost his starting spot last season, is keen to leave the club. In recent days, ASM has reportedly become more open to a transfer, having initially sought to retain the Var player, who is under contract with his former club until 2027. In the event of his departure, the Principality club is reportedly seeking around €50 million.

Krépin Diatta, who suffered a psoas injury, also did not make the trip.

As a reminder, the Senegalese international is frustrated by his playing time (5 starts in 24 matches during the previous season). He is not opposed to a new experience if he receives a good offer.

The Monegasque group:

Goalkeepers: Philipp Köhn, Yann Lienard, Radoslaw Majecki.

Defenders: Caio Henrique, Thilo Kehrer, Eric Dier, Christian Mawissa, Kassoum Ouattara, Mohammed Salisu, Wilfried Singo, Jordan Teze, Vanderson.

Midfield: Maghnes Akliouche, Aladji Bamba, Saïmon Bouabré, Lamine Camara, Aleksandr Golovin, Soungoutou Magassa, Takumi Minamino, Denis Zakaria.

Forwards: Folarin Balogun, Mika Biereth, Paris Brunner, Breel Embolo, Lucas Michal.
