After his victory against the American Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals of the French Open on June 3, Carlos Alcaraz apologized to the crowd on the Philippe-Chatrier court. The Spaniard had taken only one hour and thirty-four minutes to overcome his opponent, despite being the number 12 seed (6-0, 6-1, 6-4). "I know you would have liked to see a little more tennis and I must apologize, but I have a job to do," he said at the time. Said job? Reaching the Roland-Garros final and lifting the Coupe des Mousquetaires, for the second time in a row, after his coronation in 2024.

The first part of the contract was fulfilled on Friday, June 6, after Lorenzo Musetti retired in the fourth set of the semifinal after two hours and eight minutes of play (4-6, 7-6, 6-0, 2-0). The start of the match was intense, the physical battle so tough that the Italian, with a thigh problem, was unable to resist. Carlos Alcaraz also acknowledged this: "The first two sets were really difficult. Lorenzo played very good tennis. When I won the second set, I was relieved with the result."
