Coupe de France: the epic continues for Cannes, qualified for the semi-finals

The festival three months early. One of the two underdogs still in the Coupe de France, Cannes, won the right to play in a semi-final at the end of a spectacular evening at Pierre-de-Coubertin. The club playing in the fourth division beat Guingamp (3-1) on Tuesday 25 February, taking the scalp of a third Ligue 2 club. And the amateurs showed no complexes, as shown by the three goals they scored in front of their home crowd.
Chafik Abbas, a former player for the Guingamp reserve team, opened the scoring with a superb curling shot after pinning the defence on his right side (23rd). The match took a turn for the irrational when Cédric Gonçalves scored the 2-0 goal seven minutes later with a mind-blowing 45-metre lob (30th). One might have thought that Jacques Siwe's header (46th) on the return from the locker room would bring Zinédine Zidane's former club back down to earth. But Cannes still had a trick up their sleeve as Julien Gonçalves restored the two-goal lead with a cleverly timed chip (69th).
Excited until the end, they came close to making the score a little worse in an intense match full of chances. In the end, it didn't matter to AS Cannes, who are now just one match away from a final at the Stade de France, 93 years after winning the competition.
In the other match of the evening, Reims had to go through penalties to overcome another Ligue 1 club, Angers (1-1, 5-3 pens)
