The adventure continues for Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman, who defeated Alexander Zverev (world number 3) on Wimbledon's center court on Tuesday, July 1 , confirmed his excellent form on grass on Thursday by eliminating Chilean Cristian Garin, former world number 17 who had fallen to 110th place, at the end of a two-day duel (3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3).

The 29-year-old tennis player, who put in the best performance of his career "on the most beautiful court in the world" for four hours and forty minutes against the German in the first round, hardly had time to come down from his cloud. He was back on the courts the following day, Wednesday, July 2, for his second match in the tournament. This sequence without a real day of rest had an impact on the Frenchman's game, who let the first set slip away, committing fourteen unforced errors.

The Frenchman, ranked 72nd in the world, then took the upper hand in this confrontation and won the next two sets. But, as he was getting closer to winning the match, it was interrupted by nightfall, forcing both men to return to the grass on Thursday. After a fourth set won by the Chilean, Arthur Rinderknech raised his game to pocket the deciding set. He is now in the third round of Wimbledon, his best run on the London grass. He will face Poland's Kamil Majchrzak, ranked 109th in the world, tomorrow, Friday.

Engaged in singles and doubles

With this success, achieved not without difficulty, Arthur Rinderknech confirms his current form on grass. Trained for some time by the former world number 10 Lucas Pouille, the Frenchman achieved, in June, at the ATP 500 tournament at Queen's, his first success against a member of the top 10, the American Ben Shelton ( 10th ). In the quarter-finals, he had faced Carlos Alcaraz at the start of the match, before logically losing to the Spaniard, future winner of the tournament and double defending champion at Wimbledon.

With the early eliminations of several seeded players, the Frenchman has a fairly clear field for the rest of the tournament. If he wins, he could face Karen Khachanov, world number 20, in the round of 16 at Wimbledon, before a possible duel with world number 5, American Taylor Fritz.

But Arthur Rinderknech will have to manage his recovery as best he can, as he is also competing in the doubles alongside Dutchman Sander Arends. The Franco-Dutch pair's first match is scheduled to follow their singles victory this Thursday.
