“A discreet lord”: Luka Karabatic leaves the Blues a few months after Nikola, a page turns

The pivot of the Blues, captain of PSG, announced his international retirement on Tuesday, a few weeks after winning the bronze medal at the World Cup. After the departure of Nikola, there is now no more Karabatic in the French team.

It was eleven years ago. A time so far away and yet so close at the same time. Alongside Thierry Omeyer, Daniel Narcisse, Jérôme Fernandez, and of course his four-year-older, Nikola, Luka Karabatic lifted the European Handball Championship trophy in Herning, at the eternal Danish rival's, after a formidable show of strength (32-41).

The first of a decade in blue marked by all sorts of titles and emotions, of which we will only remember the most beautiful. A few months after Nikola , Luka Karabatic therefore put an end to his international career at the age of 36, after fourteen years of loyalty, 172 selections, 182 goals scored, and a final bronze medal at the last World Championships , barely three weeks ago.
