The Colombian women's team faces Mexico again: second chapter before the Copa América

This Wednesday, July 2nd, is coach Ángelo Marsiglia's last opportunity to fine-tune the Colombian women's national team's on-field performances in preparation for the Copa América. The national team faces its second friendly against Mexico (6:45 p.m., RCN HD2 and Caracol HD2) before the tournament kicks off.

Colombia is coming off a goalless draw against the Aztecas in their first test, a game in which they missed shots in front of goal, an area in need of improvement at Mexico's Agustín Coruco Díaz Stadium.

"The overall result has been very good. I think we've improved a bit in our concentration ; however, we need to improve our finishing and continue to strengthen in all the areas we're lacking," said winger Wendy Bonilla.

The national team, which includes Mayra Ramírez, Linda Caicedo, and Catalina Usme, is looking for a victory that will give them confidence for their debut on July 16 against Venezuela in Group B, which also includes Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

"The Mexican national team is one of the strongest in CONCACAF; it has shown tremendous growth recently. Therefore, it will be a great help in our growth in this process leading up to the Copa América," Marsiglia said before the double header.

The coaching staff led the training session, which lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes, at the Matamoros stadium in Cuernavaca, Morelos state, with the entire squad available to evaluate performances and decide on the squad.

The Women's Copa América will kick off next Saturday, July 12, in Ecuador and will run through August 2.
