La Moderna Marathon 2025: Traditional Saltillo race changes date... to November!

Mayor Javier Díaz and organizers highlighted the importance of the event for the sports community and Saltillo's projection as a marathon city.

On November 9, Saltillo will host the fourth edition of the La Moderna Marathon , an event that has already established itself as one of the most important in the region.

With distances of 42.195 kilometers in the individual and relay categories, as well as a recreational 5K and a children's race , the marathon promises to be a great challenge for local and international runners.

During the event presentation, Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González highlighted the value of promoting sports in the community:

Registration is now open, and the kit includes a finisher's medal, a commemorative T-shirt, a timing chip, and access to the traditional Pasta Party.

"The marathon is not only a physical challenge, it's also an opportunity to strengthen the social and family fabric. We want Saltillo to be a city of marathoners, where the streets are filled with energy and motivation."

The council member also acknowledged the organizers' efforts and the support of municipal agencies in ensuring a safe and successful event.

The event is supported by Corre y Suma AC in collaboration with ChronoSport, and Pastas La Moderna is the main sponsor.

The start and finish will be located at Paseo Villalta, on Colosio Boulevard , in front of Costco .

The marathon is endorsed by the Mexican Federation of Athletics Associations (FMAA) and the Coahuila Athletics Association , and will be operated and timed by ChronoSport .

Mayor Javier Díaz González led the official presentation of the 2025 La Moderna Marathon, highlighting its positive impact on the community and the boost it has given to sports in Saltillo.

In addition, it will be a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

MODALITIES AND PRIZES

The marathon will offer various modalities:

Individual (42.2 km)

Relays (two runners, 21 km each)

5K recreational

Moderna Kids Run: children's races from 200 to 1000 meters depending on age

The awards in the general category (male and female) will be made up of the top five places in each category.

The prizes will be: 25 thousand pesos for first place , 20 thousand for second , 14 thousand for third, 9 thousand for fourth and 8 thousand for fifth place.

The total for this category amounts to 76 thousand pesos per branch, that is, 152 thousand pesos for both.

In addition, the overall winner of each race will be awarded a 10,000-peso bonus if they break the marathon record.

Race organizer Pepe Cossio stated that the La Moderna Marathon will offer events for all levels: from the 42K challenge to children's races, including relays and a recreational 5K.

The women's record belongs to Margarita Hernández Flores (2 hours 48 minutes and 39 seconds) and the men's record to Stephen Ndege (2:24:25) , both achieved in the 2024 Edition .

In the Coahuila runners category, the first five places in each category ( male and female ) will be awarded prizes of 8 thousand, 6 thousand, 3 thousand, 2 thousand and one thousand pesos , respectively.

To be eligible, runners must register the day before the race, presenting official identification and proof of residency in Coahuila .

KEY INFORMATION FOR RUNNERS

Registration is open on the event's official website ( www.maratonSaltillo.com ) and at physical locations such as VeloCup, Coffee Cup, ChronoSport Offices, Tessen Gym and Innova Sport stores throughout the country.

The participant kit includes a T-shirt, race number, disposable chip, backpack, surprise accessories, a finisher's medal , and access to the Pasta Party organized by Pastas La Moderna.

The time limit to complete the marathon will be six hours and 30 minutes , with a cut-off of 3 hours and 15 minutes at kilometer 21 .

Those who don't arrive on time will not be allowed to continue for safety reasons. Real-time timing will also be provided via the ChronoSport Live app.

Also present was Antonio Cepeda, director of the State Sports Institute, who reaffirmed his commitment to sports development by supporting one of the most important athletic events in the north of the country.

Mayor Javier Díaz reiterated the municipality's commitment to continue supporting sports:
