Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix: Oscar Piastri takes pole position

Oscar Piastri (McLaren) , current leader of the Formula 1 World Championship , reaffirmed his great moment by winning the pole position at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
The Australian managed to beat Max Verstappen (Red Bull) by just 34 thousandths of a second in an intense Q3, where the Dutchman had initially been faster.
In third place was George Russell (Mercedes) , followed by Lando Norris (McLaren) , who again finished behind his teammate.

Spaniards Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Carlos Sainz (Williams) completed the Top 6 , separated by just a thousandth of a second.
Both took advantage of the poor form of Ferrari and Mercedes , whose representatives suffered a difficult day at Imola.
Neither Charles Leclerc nor Lewis Hamilton made it to Q3, starting 11th and 12th respectively, while young Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) was eliminated in Q2 and will start 13th.
Qualifying was marred by incidents in Q1.
Argentine Franco Colapinto (Alpine), making his first appearance of the year after missing the first six rounds, ended up against the wall on his fastest lap after making a mistake at the exit of Turn 3 .
Colapinto had returned to F1 after signing with Alpine , who selected him over Jack Doohan .
Minutes earlier, the session had been interrupted by a red flag caused by a serious accident involving Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull) , although fortunately the Japanese driver made it out on his own.
