Mexican Camila Zamorano made boxing history. After receiving her high school diploma a week ago, the 17-year-old fighter became the youngest world champion by defeating Japanese Mika Iwakawa by unanimous decision (98-92, 100-90, and 100-90) to capture the WBC interim atom title at the Centro de Usos Múltiples in Hermosillo, Sonora.

Zamorano, nicknamed "The Magnificent ," applied pressure from the start of the fight. She jabbed , finished with right hands, and hurt her Asian opponent more than once, who paid dearly for her lack of response. Although Iwakawa, 41, endured the punishment, the blows left their mark on her face. There were combinations of up to five different punches that the Japanese woman couldn't escape.

Towards the end of the fight, La Magnifica took her opponent to the ropes in search of a knockout . Her attempts continued until the final minutes, although the judges decided the outcome.
