Alarm over Sevilla's center-back position

Sevilla hasn't been having much luck with injuries during the preseason. Several players have been recalled or are currently in the infirmary, affecting Matías Almeyda 's preseason and also the Nervion team's transfer options. Now, the league debut approaches, with Cordón still facing a significant amount of unfinished business and with few available players in the center of defense.

Last Wednesday, Sevilla announced that Ramón Martínez is suffering from a "myotendinous injury to the hamstring of his left thigh." As is customary, the Nervión club hasn't specified how long the Murcia defender will be out, but it doesn't seem likely that he'll be ready for the league debut in ten days at San Mamés.

Ramón Martínez started last Monday in the Antonio Puerta Trophy. After initially sharing the center of defense with Kike Salas, he later had to adapt to the right-back position when José Ángel Carmona came off the field. He was the only player to play the full match.
