Venues of the 2025 Ice Hockey World ChampionshipSweden and Denmark are co-hosting the Ice Hockey World Championship this year. Sweden is hosting the World Championship for the twelfth time, most recently together with Finland in 2013. For Denmark, this will be their second World Championship after 2018. The two host cities are:
Stockholm (Sweden)
The Avicii Arena (also known as the "Stockholm Globe Arena" or "Globen") opened in 1989 and was renovated in preparation for the World Championship. The arena seats almost 14,000 spectators for ice hockey matches. During the 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship, the stadium will host Group A matches, two quarterfinals, both semifinals, and the final.
In addition to sporting events, the arena also hosts numerous other events. For example, Stockholm hosted the Eurovision Song Contest finals in 2000 and 2016. In 2021, it was named after the late musician Avicii.
Herning (Denmark)
After 2018, the Ice Hockey World Championship will be held for the second time at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. With a capacity of approximately 12,000 spectators, the arena will host the Group B matches and two quarterfinals.
Over the past 15 years, Herning has hosted several men's and women's handball world and European championships, most recently the Handball World Championship at the beginning of the year.
