Reports: Alonso's move to Real Madrid confirmed - he should take over at the Club World Cup

After the emotional farewell in Leverkusen's final home game, things are likely moving on sooner for Alonso than expected. He is reportedly set to take over Real Madrid as early as the Club World Cup.
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, who is leaving at the end of the season, is set to coach Real Madrid at the Club World Cup (USA), which begins on June 15. This is reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca." According to reports, the club and Alonso have agreed to this.
Real Madrid were forced to take this step because their schedule allows for virtually no breaks. Previously, there was speculation that Real Madrid were planning an interim solution for the Club World Cup. The Spanish record champions, who likely lost the title with their 4-3 defeat at FC Barcelona, will part ways with their current coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
In a conversation with Alonso last week, the club reportedly gave the Leverkusen championship-winning coach no choice. "It all starts at the World Cup," Alonso was told. There is no official confirmation yet.
Transfer expert Romano wrote that everything has been settled between Real and Alonso. The 43-year-old will receive a three-year contract until 2028 and start at the Club World Cup. Ancelotti, in turn, is said to be on the verge of becoming national coach of record world champions Brazil.
