Official: Rouven Schröder becomes Gladbach's sporting director

It had been hinted at, and now the move has been officially announced: Rouven Schröder will become sporting director at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The club announced this on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).

Schröder, 49, comes from Austrian club RB Salzburg, where he was under contract from December 2024 until the end of 2028. Gladbach will therefore pay Salzburg a transfer fee, the amount of which is unknown.

Schröder has previously worked in various Bundesliga positions for FSV Mainz 05, RB Leipzig, and Schalke 04. At Borussia Mönchengladbach, he succeeds Roland Virkus, who left the club at the end of September.
