In der letzten Saison siegten die roten Bullen mit 2:0 in Mainz, gaben jedoch das Rückspiel mit 1:2 ab. Die Gesamtbilanz ist ebenfalls recht ausgeglichen (Mainz sechs Siege, vier Unentschieden, Leipzig acht Siege), was für das heutige Spiel einiges an Spannung verspricht. Aufgrund der aktuellen Personalsituation sollten die Gäste aber leicht favorisiert sein.

Fisnik Asllani kehrt in seine Heimatstadt zurück. Er ist in Berlin geboren und spielte als Jugendspieler vier Jahre im Union-Trikot. Von Köpenick wechselte Asllani zur TSG, wo er nach zwei Leihen nun in der Bundesliga Fuß fassen möchte.

FCH-Trainer Schmidt setzt nach dem Fehlstart auf Rotation und schickt heute gleich fünf neue Spieler in die Startelf: Paçarada, Traoré, Schöppner, Beck und Stürmer Zivzivadze. Auf die Bank müssen dafür Föhrenbach, Busch, Dorsch und Kaufmann. Dazu spielt der gewechselte Scienza nun in Southampton.

Sechs Punkte und 5:1-Tore, macht Platz zwei für die Geißböcke vom Rhein. Das sieht das so sehr geschundene Kölner Herz natürlich gerne als Momentaufnahme. So etwas gab es seit 20 Jahren nicht mehr für den FC. Nach dem 1:0 zum Auftakt in Mainz folgte eine beim 4:1 eine Freiburger Demontage. Marius Bülter blühte bei diesen Duellen mit vier Scorer-Punkte regelrecht auf. Etwas getrübt haben das Bild zuletzt aber die Verletzungen von Ísak Jóhannesson, der angeschlagen aus der Länderspielpause gekommen ist. Der 22 Jahre alte Isländer hat gegen Frankreich einen Schlag abbekommen und sitzt heute zunächst auf der Bank. Schwerer hingegen hat es Luca Kilian erwischt, der sich Anfang der Woche das dritte Mal in eineinhalb Jahren das Kreuzband riss. Auch wenn er nicht fest eingeplant war im System von Łukasz Kwasniok, war die erneute Verletzung ein Schock für die Mannschaft.

Union Berlin : Hoffenheim

Beide Klubs testeten in der Länderspielpause mit den verbliebenen Spielern, allzu viel Aussagekraft sollte man diesen Testspielen jedoch nicht beimessen. Hoffenheim gewann gegen den KSC mit 4:2. Union spielte gegen den Nachbarklub VSG Altglienicke aus der Regionalliga 1:1 unentschieden.

Bei den Wölfen tauscht Cheftrainer Paul Simonis doppelt aus im Gegensatz zum Remis gegen Mainz. Mohamed Amoura und Joakim Mæhle verdrängen Aaron Zehnter und Dženan Pejčinović auf die Bank.

Aber natürlich hat auch der VfB angesichts seines beschwerlichen Starts nichts zu verschenken. Nach der Niederlage im Supercup gegen den FC Bayern München (1:2) ging auch der Bundesligastart daneben (1:2 bei Union Berlin). Im DFB-Pokal quälte man sich übers Elfmeterschießen gegen Eintracht Braunschweig in die nächste Runde. Erst danach konnte zu Hause gegen Mönchengladbach mal ein Dreier eingefahren werden (1:0). Bei einen 6:2-Testpielsieg gegen Sonnenhof-Großaspach holte man sich während der Länderspielpause noch etwas Selbstvertrauen.

Bo Henriksen muss heute auf mehrere wichtige Offensivstützen verzichten: Paul Nebel fehlt nach seiner Notbremse am ersten Spieltag weiterhin Rotgesperrt, während Hollerbach und Lee beide mit Muskelverletzungen ausfallen. Zudem ist der Einsatz von Torhüter Zentner aufgrund von Rückenproblemen fraglich. Beim Team von Ole Werner steht außer dem Langzeitverletzten Henrichs nur der Einsatz von Banzuzi wegen eines Mittelhandbruchs auf der Kippe.

Wolfsburg : Cologne

„80 Jahre VfL Wolfsburg“, unter diesem Motto steht der heutige Spieltag für die Niedersachsen. Denn gestern feierte der Klub seinen 80. Geburtstag. Am Stadion ist ein Fanfest geplant, sowie ein Fanmarsch zur Arena. Außerdem werden die Wölfe in einem Sondertrikot auflaufen. In diesem wird möglicherweise auch bereits Neuzugang Christian Eriksen zu sehen sein. Der Däne wurde Mitte der Woche überraschend aus der Vereinslosigkeit geholt, nachdem er nach seinem Engagement bei Manchester United im Sommer keinen neuen Verein mehr gefunden hat. Ob der dänische Rekord-Nationalspieler in Wolfsburg nochmal an die großen Zeiten anknüpfen kann? Auch die beiden anderen neuen Akteure, welche kurz vor Ende der Transferperiode verpflichtet wurden (Daghim und Seelt) sind auf der Bank dabei.

Die Ähnlichkeiten der Saisonstarts sind verblüffend: Beide Teams gewannen im ersten Spiel als Außenseiter 2:1 – jeweils durch Tore von Debütanten - und verloren ebenfalls als Außenseiter in der zweiten Partie mit drei Gegentreffern. So finden Hoffenheim und Union sich auch als Tabellennachbarn wieder.

Heidenheim : Dortmund

Für den 1. FC Heidenheim geht es den zwei Auftaktniederlagen gegen Wolfsburg und Leipzig schon jetzt um den Klassenerhalt. Die Elf von Trainer-Legende Frank Schmidt steht vor einer schwierigen Spielzeit und muss für den Klassenerhalt unbedingt an seiner Heim-Bilanz arbeiten: Saisonübergreifend gewann der FCH nur eines seiner letzten zehn Bundesliga-Heimspiele.

Freiburg : Stuttgart

Mit dieser Partie kommt es zum Duell des Tabellenletzten gegen den derzeit Neunten. Die Freiburger waren zwar mit einem 2:0-Sieg im Pokal beim Regionalligisten Sportfreunde Lotte gestartet, in der Bundesliga jedoch lief für die Breisgauer noch gar nichts zusammen. Zu Hause gegen Augsburg kassierte man ein 1:3. Und in Köln setzte es gar noch einen Gegentreffer mehr (1:4). Somit käme es den Badenern ganz gelegen, wenn ausgerechnet heute gegen den schwäbischen Rivalen der erste Saisonsieg in der Liga gelingen würde. Vielleicht kann der SC auf den 4:2-Testspielsieg vor gut einer Woche gegen den FC Luzern aufbauen.

Union Berlin : Hoffenheim

Die Eisernen bezwangen den Pokalsieger VfB Stuttgart am ersten Spieltag mit 2:1, bei den Berlinern schoss mit Ilyas Ansah ebenfalls ein Debütant beide Tore. Es folgte eine 0:3-Niederlage gegen einen von Doppelpacker Guirassy angeführten BVB.

Heidenheim : Dortmund

Für das Duell auf dem Schlossberg nimmt Kovač vier Änderungen in seiner Startelf vor: Sabitzer und Bellingham müssen auf die Bank, dazu sind Anselmino und Brandt verletzt. Neu in die Mannschaft rücken Ryerson, Groß, Nmecha und Adeyemi.

Die beiden letztgenannten Spieler sind seit dem letzten Spieltag zum Ende der Transferperiode in die Landeshauptstadt Baden-Württembergs gewechselt. El Khannouss ist eine Leihgabe von Leicester City, Bouanani von OGC Nizza wurde fest verpflichtet. Damit möchte man auch ein wenig den Abgang von Nick Woltemade zu Newcastle United kompensieren. Beim Sport-Club hat es zuletzt noch zwei Abgänge gegeben. Merlin Röhl verabschiedete sich leihweise zum FC Everton und Noah Weißhaupt wurde an Legia Warschau verliehen.

Wolfsburg : Cologne

Wer hätte vor einigen Wochen gedacht, dass diese beiden Mannschaften nach zwei Spieltagen mit ihren neuen Trainern jeweils noch ungeschlagen sind. Denn sowohl der VfL als auch der FC absolvierten nicht gerade ihre beste Vorbereitung. Doch mit dem ersten Spieltag schienen die Sorgen bei beiden Klubs wie verflogen. Während die Wölfe ihre Partie in Heidenheim gewannen, gefolgt von einem Remis gegen Mainz, konnte Köln als Aufsteiger gar beide Spiele gewinnen. In Mainz und gegen Freiburg. Klar ist aber auch, dass diese ersten Partien noch mit Vorsicht zu genießen sind. Denn der Wind kann auch schnell wieder in eine andere Richtung wehen.

Mainz : Leipzig

Nachdem beide Teams eher durchwachsen in die neue Spielzeit gestartet sind, kann das heutige Aufeinandertreffen schon richtungsweisend für den weiteren Saisonverlauf sein. Das Team von Bo Henriksen verlor zum Auftakt mit 0:1 vor heimischem Publikum gegen Aufsteiger Köln und holte am letzten Spieltag zumindest einen Punkt in Wolfsburg. Dabei traf der Deutsche Nationalspieler Nadiem Amiri erst kurz vor Schluss per Handelfmeter zum Ausgleich. Bei den Leipzigern folgte auf das 0:6-Auftaktdebakel gegen die Bayern, ein Heimdreier beim 2:0 gegen Heidenheim.

Union Berlin : Hoffenheim

Die TSG gewann zum Auftakt durch eine starke Leistung und mit Debüttreffern von Asllani und Lemperle 2:1 bei Vizemeister Bayer Leverkusen. Am zweiten Spieltag mussten die Kraichgauer gegen stark einzuschätzende Frankfurter mit Doppelpacker Doan eine 1:3-Niederlage hinnehmen.

Heidenheim : Dortmund

Nach der Länderspielpause wartet auf den BVB heute die Ostalb und der 1. FC Heidenheim. Die Borussen von Trainer Niko Kovač stehen vor einer unangenehmen Pflichtaufgabe - im Kampf um die Champions-League-Plätze darf sich der BVB einen Patzer wie beim Saisonstart gegen St. Pauli (3:3) nicht schon wieder erlauben. „Wir haben Ambitionen und wollen uns oben festsetzen“, machte Kovač auf der Pressekonferenz deutlich.

Freiburg : Stuttgart

Im Vergleich zur 1:4-Niederlage vor der Länderspielpause in Köln nimmt Julian Schuster drei Wechsel vor. Anstelle von Christian Günter (Bank), Yuito Suzuki (nicht im Kader) und Eren Dinkçi (Bank) rücken Jordy Makengo, Patrick Osterhage und Jan-Niklas Beste in die Freiburger Startelf. Aufseiten der Gäste gibt es nach dem 1:0-Heimerfolg vor zwei Wochen gegen Mönchengladbach ebenfalls drei Veränderungen. Ramon Hendriks, Tiago Tomás (beide Bank) und Deniz Undav (Innenbandanriss im linken Knie) sind nicht in Stuttgarts Anfangsformation zu finden. Dafür beordert Sebastian Hoeneß heute Jeff Chabot, Bilal El Khannouss und Badredine Bouanani von Beginn an auf den Platz.

Mainz : Leipzig
