(sda) The day before, Norris had won ahead of Piastri in the second sprint race of this Formula 1 World Championship, but now the Australian turned the tables. With his fourth win of the season in the sixth Grand Prix of the year, he extended his lead over Norris by seven points to sixteen points.

Although Piastri only started from fourth place, he moved into the lead after a quarter of the race thanks to a successful overtaking maneuver on Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, who had started from pole position, and extended the gap to his closest rivals to as much as nine seconds. Norris was able to reduce the time gap, but the opportunity to challenge his teammate for the win was gone.
The blatant dominance of the two drivers in the orange cars is confirmed by a glance at the final standings. Norris' compatriot George Russell, who finished third in the Mercedes ahead of world champion Verstappen, found himself over 37 seconds behind Piastri.
Of the Sauber driver duo, only Nico Hülkenberg finished the race. The German, who had surprised everyone with a seventh-place finish at the season opener in Australia, clearly missed out on his second qualifying result of the year, finishing 14th. Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, in the Zurich-based team's second car, retired due to engine problems.
