FC Bayern: Jonathan Tah is here – this is how his first day went

After his one-year delay in his move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to FC Bayern, German national player Jonathan Tah aims to grow as a footballer and as a person in Munich. The 29-year-old feels "ready" to make his first appearance in a Bayern jersey on Sunday (6 p.m., Sat.1 and DAZN) in the opening match of the Club World Cup in Cincinnati against Auckland City.
"I already said yes last year because I had a positive feeling," said the defender about his decision to join Bayern. At the time, however, the German record champions and Leverkusen couldn't agree on a transfer fee. This summer, Tah was able to leave the club on a free transfer.
This time, a move to FC Barcelona, under former national coach Hansi Flick, was also a topic of discussion. "It makes no sense to talk about other clubs," Tah said after his arrival in Orlando and his first training session with Bayern.
"Of course, it was a bit more open. I considered many topics. I looked at what was best for me – and that's FC Bayern Munich," said Tah. Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund called Tah "an absolute dream player." They had already held talks last year, the Austrian reported: "That's no secret." Tah is expected to bring more stability to the Munich defense as a leader.
He said it was a big step for him to move from Leverkusen to Munich: "The demands here are greater. I've been in the same place, at the same club, for ten years, and I can only say good things about it. But I had to get out of that comfort zone now. There will be many challenges ahead, but I feel ready for them."
