Both teams narrowly prevailed in the quarterfinals. Italy defeated Norway 2-1. England advanced after a 3-2 penalty shootout against Sweden. The second semifinal will be contested on Wednesday between Germany and world champions Spain. The final will take place next Sunday (6:00 p.m.) in Basel.
A triumph over Andrea Soncin's team would see the 55-year-old Wiegman reach her third consecutive European Championship title. The Dutchwoman led her home country to victory in 2017, and in 2022 she was successful with England in the final against Germany.
