Nineteen-year-old Michelle Agyemang was stretchered off the pitch after suffering an injury during England's 3-0 victory over Australia in Derby on Tuesday. After the match, national coach Sarina Wiegman said the injury looked "horrible".
On Thursday, Agyemang confirmed the severity of her injury on her Instagram page. "I'm disappointed that the results show a torn ACL," wrote the Brighton & Hove Albion striker (on loan from Arsenal). Agyemang expressed her gratitude for the support she has received. "The recovery starts now," the 19-year-old wrote.

She won the European Championship with England this summer, coming on as a substitute in the final against Spain .
