Decision made: Poland's national coach resigns after Lewandowski ultimatum

The coach of the Polish national team, Michal Probierz, has resigned, the Polish Football Association announced on Thursday.

"I have come to the conclusion that, in the current situation, the best decision for the good of the national team is my resignation from the position of selector," coach Michal Probierz of the Polish Football Association (PZPN) is quoted as saying on X. "Holding this position has been the fulfillment of my professional dreams and the greatest honor of my life."

Before Lewandowski's post, national coach Probierz had declared that in future, it would no longer be the striker but Piotr Zielinski who would be captain of the national team.

Just on Tuesday, Poland suffered another setback in World Cup qualifying. After a 2-1 defeat in Finland, the team slipped to third place in its group.
