According to a media report, Cologne player Tim Lemperle was attacked on Sunday evening. The second-division player reportedly suffered a broken nose. His participation in the final game of the season is questionable.

According to a report in "Bild," Tim Lemperle, a football player for second-division club 1. FC Köln, was attacked early Sunday evening. According to "Bild," the 23-year-old's nose was broken in the attack. Lemperle also reportedly suffered a laceration.

Cologne sporting director Thomas Kessler told Bild: "We are aware of the incident. Tim was physically assaulted early Sunday evening and suffered facial injuries. Based on current information, it is unlikely that he will be fit to play next Sunday."

As "Bild" reports, Lemperle was out with a friend and former teammate at the "Rhein Roxy" boathouse in Cologne on Sunday. There, an argument allegedly broke out with another group. When Lemperle left the venue around 9:00 p.m., the altercation allegedly broke out. Lemperle was reportedly heavily intoxicated and was treated in the hospital after the fight. Police are investigating the case.
