SV Werder Bremen experienced a sobering start to the new season. After an early 0-1 cup exit against Arminia Bielefeld, they suffered a decisive 4-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt in their Bundesliga opener. Against the in-form Hesse side, Bremen largely focused on avoiding mistakes, lacking any momentum going forward. Coach Horst Steffen and his team now need to quickly turn things around to avoid a completely false start.
